The Department of Veterans Affairs has halted enforcement of a disability evaluation rule after concerns were raised by Guam Del. James Moylan, according to a statement released Friday.
Moylan said he received confirmation from VA Secretary Doug Collins that the agency is pausing the interim final rule titled Evaluative Rating: Impact of Medication while officials conduct further review and gather public input.
“I applaud Secretary Collins for taking veterans’ concerns seriously and for pausing implementation while further review and public input continue,” Moylan said. “Veterans who follow their prescribed treatment plans should never be placed at a disadvantage in the disability evaluation process.”
The congressman said veterans who already have disability ratings will see no change to their current benefits during the pause. The rule will not be enforced while the review is underway.
Moylan added he plans to continue working with the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee and Chairman Mike Bost to monitor the issue.
“I remain fully engaged on this issue and will not support any policy that risks undermining the compensation our veterans have earned through their service,” he said.
