NWS Guam Update
Typhoon Warnings were expanded Tuesday morning to include the far northern Mariana Islands of Alamagan, Pagan and Agrihan as Super Typhoon Sinlaku maintained its northwest track at 7 mph, already producing wind gusts of 66 mph over Guam and 70 mph over Saipan.
A Tropical Storm Warning and Typhoon Watch remain in effect for Guam.
Forecast by Island
Tinian and Saipan face the worst conditions, with Typhoon-Force winds of 130 to 155 mph and gusts up to 175 mph forecast for Tuesday night. The far northern islands of Alamagan, Pagan and Agrihan could see similar or stronger conditions as Sinlaku continues its track.
Rota’s forecast was revised to strong Tropical Storm-Force winds of 60 to 70 mph with gusts to 90 mph around the same time period.
Guam can expect Tropical Storm-Force winds of 50 to 60 mph with gusts to 70 mph through tonight, easing slightly to 45 to 55 mph Wednesday.
Track
Sinlaku is expected to maintain its northwest course and speed through Wednesday before turning north and passing through the northern CNMI during the latter half of the week. Heavy rainfall with locally higher amounts remains possible across the entire region, with seas building to 20 feet.
Residents are urged to remain indoors, monitor NWS Guam at weather.gov/gum and follow all official guidance from local government authorities.
