The Department of Youth Affairs announced Friday that the Håya and Lågu Youth Resource Centers will temporarily suspend operations this month to allow for the installation of solar panels. The closures will affect all youth programs, with no onsite access permitted during the construction periods.

The Håya Youth Resource Center in Hågat will be closed from Aug. 11 to Aug. 20, while the Lågu Youth Resource Center in Dededo will close from Aug. 19 to Sept. 3. Officials said the upgrades are part of the government’s efforts to enhance sustainability and improve facility operations.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate the community’s understanding and patience during these upgrades,” the department stated. Staff will remain available to assist the public during the closures, and residents can still reach the centers at their regular phone numbers or contact the DYA main office in Barrigada.

Updates on reopening dates will be provided once the work is completed. The department encouraged residents to call the Håya Youth Resource Center at (671) 565-5031/2, the Lågu Youth Resource Center at (671) 635-4392/3, or the main office at (671) 735-5010/5022 for further information.
