Two sailors assigned to the USS George Washington were arrested early Monday morning following a fight inside a hotel room at Leopalace Resort in Yona, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Superior Court.
Police responded to a call at around 1:36 a.m. on Aug. 18 and found 19-year-old Mychaela Arae Crosby outside the hotel room visibly emotional and with scratches on her face and neck. Investigators determined that Crosby and 22-year-old Brea Janee McDonald, who rented the room, had been drinking when an argument escalated into a physical altercation. McDonald allegedly purchased alcohol earlier in the day despite Crosby being underage.
During the fight, Crosby allegedly punched McDonald before grabbing a glass cup to throw, while McDonald allegedly scratched Crosby and later tried to hit her with an empty liquor bottle. A third individual, identified as McDonald’s boyfriend, intervened multiple times to separate the two women and was not considered an aggressor, police said. Medics treated Crosby for scratches and a half-moon-shaped injury to her abdomen.
Crosby was arrested at 4:03 a.m. and charged with misdemeanor assault and underage consumption of alcohol. McDonald was arrested minutes later at 4:08 a.m. and charged with misdemeanor assault and providing alcohol to a minor.
