Two people were arrested following an alleged carjacking and police pursuit that ended in a crash in Chalan Pago, according to the Guam Police Department.
Police said David Jesus Quichocho, 26, of Talo’fo’fo, and Juanette Nicole Pangelinan, 32, of Dededo, were taken into custody Feb. 13.
According to a department media release, the incident began about 3:50 p.m. Feb. 12 at a Shell gas station in Barrigada, where an adult male victim was fueling his sedan. Authorities allege Quichocho asked the man for a ride to a clinic in Mangilao. After failing to locate a relative, Quichocho directed the victim toward Dededo and allegedly told him to pull over to switch seats.
Police said Quichocho then drove to a residence, where Pangelinan entered the vehicle. Officers later received reports that the victim was being held hostage, prompting patrol and Special Investigations Section units to attempt to intercept the sedan.
Authorities allege Quichocho accelerated, struck a marked patrol car and fled from Route 15 onto Route 10. The pursuit ended when the sedan collided with a power pole and a truck near the intersection of Route 10 and Route 4 in Chalan Pago. Police said Quichocho was apprehended without further incident.
Quichocho faces multiple charges, including carjacking, kidnapping, use of a deadly weapon in the commission of a felony, terrorizing, reckless driving with injuries, eluding a police officer, aggravated assault and family violence, among others.
Pangelinan was arrested on suspicion of criminal facilitation and execution of warrants.
Both were booked and confined at the Department of Corrections. Their cases were forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General for review.
