American Medical Center’s Upper Tumon and Mangilao clinics have been officially approved as National Health Service Corps (NHSC) sites, a federal recognition that highlights the clinics’ role in expanding healthcare access for underserved communities across Guam.
The designation allows AMC to recruit and retain qualified healthcare providers through eligibility for federal loan repayment programs, addressing workforce shortages in areas with the greatest medical need. These programs aim to ensure residents have consistent access to skilled, compassionate care.
“This recognition is a significant milestone for our clinic and the people we serve,” said AMC founding members Drs. Hoa Nguyen and Vincent Akimoto. “It reaffirms our mission to provide accessible, patient-centered care and reinforces our commitment to improving health outcomes throughout Guam.”
With the NHSC designation, AMC said it will continue to strengthen its team of providers and offer comprehensive services including family medicine, chronic disease management, and preventive health. The center thanked its leadership, staff and community partners for their role in achieving the designation.
