Matcha lovers have another reason to indulge this season as Tsubaki Towers brings back its Kagoshima Matcha Afternoon Tea experience, featuring Japanese green tea, savory bites, sweets and new complimentary offerings.
Following strong guest interest last year, the seasonal experience returns with matcha from Kagoshima, Japan, known for its rich aroma, deep umami flavor and smooth finish.
The tea tradition dates back to 1881, representing more than 140 years of Japanese tea culture.
“For the Kagoshima matcha, this is founded in 1881. Pioneer in Japanese tea culture for over 140 years. And it is grown in Kagoshima, so it is known for the rich aroma, deep umami, and smooth finish,” said Maria Elaine Ollet, food and beverage assistant outlet manager at Tsubaki Towers.
This years' experience includes two new complimentary additions: a glass of sweet sparkling wine and a matcha tasting served alongside the afternoon tea tower.
The savory menu features hors d'oeuvres such as a pork rillette sandwich made with slow-cooked pork on toasted bread and a snow crab potato cup filled with a potato-based crab and apple salad topped with microgreens.
The sweets offer a range of flavors selected to complement the matcha. Options include matcha panna cotta with sweet anko paste and Okinawan black sugar syrup.
Ollet said the experience features a lighter, everyday style of matcha that appeals to both local residents and visitors.
Tsubaki Towers said the afternoon tea experience is suited for matcha enthusiasts, couples, groups of friends and parents enjoying time with their children.
The Kagoshima Matcha Afternoon Tea is available for a limited time through the end of November.
