A Tropical Storm Warning was issued for Guam Sunday afternoon, meaning tropical storm conditions with winds of 39 to 73 mph are expected within 24 hours, as Typhoon Sinlaku continued to strengthen with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph.
As of 1 p.m. Sunday, Sinlaku was located approximately 475 miles east-southeast of Guam, moving north-northwest at 9 mph. Tropical Storm-Force winds are expected to arrive Monday evening and persist through Wednesday evening. A Typhoon Watch remains in effect, with typhoon conditions still possible should the storm’s track shift southward.
Fuel Storage Waiver
The Guam Fire Department announced a temporary waiver of fire permit requirements for limited fuel storage, effective Sunday. Residents may store up to 20 gallons total of gasoline and diesel fuel without a fire permit through April 30. All fuel must be stored in approved containers, kept in well-ventilated areas away from heat sources and out of reach of children.
Judiciary of Guam
All hearings, jury trials, jury selections and grand jury proceedings have been rescheduled. Magistrate hearings will resume following COR 4. Probation check-ins, drug testing and appointments are also rescheduled. Court filing deadlines due while courts are closed are automatically extended to the first accessible business day after reopening.
Transit
The Guam Regional Transit Authority is suspending all fixed route and paratransit services beginning Monday, April 13. Services will resume after COR 4 is declared.
