Update: Traffic is slowly improving along Marine Corps Drive after a landslide early Wednesday morning forced road closures near Vince Jewelers in East Hagåtña.
The Guam Police Department confirmed that two southbound lanes and one northbound lane are now open on Route 1 as cleanup efforts continue. Debris from the landslide had previously blocked multiple lanes in both directions, causing significant delays for morning commuters.
According to GPD, the Department of Public Works was on site this morning to assist with clearing debris and stabilizing the affected area.
Authorities urge motorists to proceed with caution in the area and remain alert for workers and equipment along the roadway. Drivers are still advised to expect delays and consider alternate routes until the cleanup is complete. Guam News have witnessed traffic backing up on Airport Road as motorists try to seek alternative routes.
No injuries or vehicle damage have been reported at this time. Officials said more updates will be released as information becomes available.
