A teenager is facing multiple felony charges following a violent incident that endangered residents at a Mongmong apartment complex, according to a magistrate’s complaint filed by the Office of the Attorney General. The charges — aggravated assault, terrorizing, and stalking — stem from an altercation on July 30 in which the defendant allegedly brandished a baseball bat and threatened to kill a resident.
Authorities say the 19-year-old, identified as Jeiremiay Mickey, returned several times to the apartment complex after initial police contact, harassing tenants and ultimately approaching a male victim with a metal bat while making repeated death threats. Witnesses, including the victim's girlfriend and a neighbor, corroborated the threats and attempts to strike the victim with the bat. The incident prompted multiple 911 calls and resulted in the defendant’s arrest later that day after he fled from officers.
Public safety concerns were at the heart of prosecutors’ request to detain the defendant ahead of trial. Prosecutors argue that Mickey poses a danger to the community, citing his history of violent offenses, prior arrests, and violations of court orders. He was reportedly on pretrial release for a separate felony case at the time of the assault. The Attorney General’s Office emphasized that repeated “catch and release” scenarios undermine law enforcement efforts and community safety.
Mickey faces up to 90 years in prison if convicted on all charges, enhanced by allegations that he committed these offenses while already on felony release. He is currently being held on $5,000 cash bail.
