The Guam Solid Waste Authority has temporarily adjusted operations at its facilities ahead of Tropical Storm Bavi.

Residential transfer stations, the Layon Landfill and the hauler-only transfer station will be closed Sunday, July 5, and Monday, July 6. GSWA will also suspend curbside trash collection beginning Monday, July 6, until the all clear is given and Guam is placed in Condition of Readiness 4.

Customer service and administrative offices will also be closed Monday.

GSWA advised residents to secure their trash and recycling bins ahead of the storm, saying the precautionary measure “will help prevent the loss or scattering of waste recyclables during adverse weather conditions and prevent potential hazards.”

Additional updates will be provided on the GSWA website and through the Joint Information Center as Bavi approaches the Marianas.
