The Department of Public Health and Social Services (DPHSS) and the Guam Community Health Center (CHC) are celebrating one of their own as Sandra Leynes was named Pharmacy Technician of the Year 2025 by the Guam Pharmacists Association (GPhA). The recognition was presented during the GPhA Annual Gala held Oct. 19 at the Westin Resort Guam.

Leynes, a 21-year veteran of DPHSS, was selected through an anonymous nomination highlighting her dedication, professionalism, and exceptional contributions to pharmacy services on island. Her efforts have strengthened CHC pharmacy operations through improved workflow efficiency, precise dispensing, and effective inventory management while ensuring patient safety remains a top priority.

In addition to her technical expertise, Leynes is known for her compassion and warmth toward patients and colleagues. “In a world of medicine, be the dose of kindness,” she shared. “Whether it’s a friendly smile or going the extra mile, kindness heals too. Spread positivity and care, one patient at a time.”

DPHSS Director Theresa Arriola praised Leynes for her outstanding service, saying, “Sandra exemplifies the heart of public service. Her humility, dedication, and care represent the mission of DPHSS and the Guam Community Health Center to provide quality, compassionate care to all.”
