Rev and Tax releases first batch of 2025 tax refunds

The Guam Department of Revenue and Taxation has released the first batch of individual tax refunds for the 2025 tax year, totaling more than $25.5 million for thousands of Guam taxpayers.

Officials said refunds totaling $25,593,021.14 have been processed so far for 6,496 individual tax filers who submitted error-free returns through Feb. 1. The payments were issued in coordination with the Guam Department of Administration.

According to the agency, the first batch includes 3,990 refund checks and 2,506 electronic payments. Taxpayers receiving refunds are advised to allow 10 to 15 business days for the funds to arrive.

“Our ability to put these funds back into the hands of our people this early in the season is a direct result of our commitment to disciplined fiscal responsibility,” Acting Gov. Josh Tenorio said in a statement.

“By prioritizing sound financial management, we have ensured that the resources are available to honor our commitment to Guam’s taxpayers and deliver these refunds with the efficiency they deserve.”

Taxpayers who selected direct deposit may first see a $0 test transaction in their bank account before the refund is deposited.

Residents can check the status of their returns through the government’s online portal. Returns marked with “A Status” indicate they were received and processed without errors. If issues are identified, taxpayers will receive a notification by mail asking them to contact the agency to resolve the matter.

The Department of Revenue and Taxation continues to process 2025 income tax returns ahead of the April 15 filing deadline. Officials say taxpayers who cannot pay the full amount owed may contact the agency’s collections branch to discuss payment options.

Residents needing more time to file may request an extension using IRS Form 4868, though officials note that an extension applies only to filing and does not extend the deadline to pay taxes owed.
