The Department of Revenue and Taxation announced Wednesday it will implement a moratorium to assist taxpayers and consumers affected by ongoing service disruptions.

In a release dated April 1, 2026, DRT acknowledged the challenges caused by its limited operational capacity and said the moratorium will provide relief through waived penalties, reduced fees and extended deadlines for certain services.

“The Department of Revenue and Taxation acknowledges the challenges many taxpayers and consumers are currently facing due to its ongoing limited operations,” the agency said.

Officials said additional details outlining the scope of the moratorium, including specific waivers and extensions, will be released once finalized.

DRT emphasized that several services remain available despite system limitations. These include manual filing of tax returns and payments, vehicle registration and renewal, and acceptance of payments for Business Privilege Tax, income tax and real property tax.

The agency also continues to offer U.S. passport services, along with operations under the Compliance Branch and the Insurance, Securities, Banking and Real Estate Branch.

While full restoration of services remains the goal, DRT said it will continue providing updates as new information becomes available.
