The American Red Cross has relocated its financial assistance service site for residents impacted by Super Typhoon Sinlaku to Micronesia Mall.

According to the Joint Information Center, Red Cross caseworkers will assist eligible residents from May 12 through May 17 at Space 111 inside the mall from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. Assistance is available for households whose primary homes were destroyed or sustained major damage during the storm.

Officials clarified the Red Cross will not operate at the Astumbo Community Center, correcting earlier information released in a previous recovery notice.

To qualify for damage-based financial assistance, applicants must show proof of identity and residency. Accepted documents include passports, government-issued IDs, utility bills, rental agreements, mortgage statements or mayor’s verification letters.

The Red Cross emphasized assistance is available regardless of citizenship status and does not need to be repaid.

Meanwhile, the Government of Guam said the island remains under an emergency declaration and has not yet received a federal Major Disaster Declaration. The Guam Recovery Office and the Mayors' Council of Guam continue collecting damage data to determine whether Guam qualifies for expanded federal disaster assistance programs.

Residents are encouraged to report residential damage to their respective mayor’s offices and document all losses with photos and receipts to support possible future federal aid claims.

Officials reminded residents the self-reporting process is not a FEMA application, but part of Guam’s local damage assessment effort.

For assistance, residents may contact the local Red Cross at (671) 472-6217 or the Guam Recovery Office at (671) 478-0254.
