The Department of Public Health and Social Services will host the Cannabis Industry Regulation Annual Summit on Jan. 29, aimed at providing current and prospective cannabis industry stakeholders with an overview of Guam’s cannabis program.
The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Central Community Arts Hall in Sinajana, according to a DPHSS press release issued Thursday.
Topics to be covered include the industry’s current regulatory landscape, the history and development of Guam’s cannabis program, the existing licensing process, the current state of the industry, and a preview of the METRC seed-to-sale tracking system.
METRC is the contractor for the state-mandated tracking system designed to support regulatory compliance, transparency, and public health and safety throughout the cannabis supply chain.
“The goal of this session summit is to ensure stakeholders have a clear understanding of where Guam’s cannabis industry has been, where it is now, and how we intend to move the industry forward,” DPHSS Director Theresa C. Arriola said. “By introducing METRC and walking through the licensing process, we aim to support a compliant, responsible, and well-informed industry.”
The summit is intended for prospective cannabis operators, applicants, ancillary businesses and other interested stakeholders. Government regulators will be available to answer questions and provide resources on cannabis regulation.
