The Leon Guerrero-Tenorio administration and the Palauan Consulate Office partnered with the Guam Department of Public Health and Social Services to host a public health outreach event Sunday at the Palauan Abay cultural center in Dededo, according to a press release issued Jan. 11.
Employees from DPHSS worked alongside members of Chålan Åmte and representatives from the Palauan Consulate to provide the outreach, aimed at supporting community health and wellness.
Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero and Lt. Gov. Joshua Tenorio said such efforts, along with federal-funded and locally administered programs, are especially important as many Guam families face affordability challenges. They emphasized the role of outreach in improving health, nutrition, well-being and overall quality of life.
The administration extended its thanks to Palauan Consul General Adelina Jose and Chålan Åmte for their partnership with DPHSS.
Chålan Åmte is a nonprofit organization of medical students, resident doctors, fellows, attending physicians and pre-medical students with Pacific Island ties. The group focuses on strengthening health care education and workforce capacity in the Pacific, beginning in Guam, through community partnerships, outreach and collaboration.
The event reflects continued cooperation between the Guam government, regional partners and local organizations to address health needs in the community.
