The Department of Public Health and Social Services is notifying the public about a voluntary nationwide recall of limited batches of Gerber Arrowroot Biscuits due to the potential presence of soft plastic or paper.
Health officials said the foreign material could pose a choking hazard or cause mouth injuries, particularly for young children who are still developing chewing skills. The recall applies only to certain 5.5-ounce packages produced between July and September 2025. Affected products can be identified by specific 10-digit batch codes printed on the back of the packaging before the best-before date.
According to DPHSS, the recalled items were distributed by off-island vendors and sold locally at several retailers, including Kmart in Tamuning, Payless Supermarket locations in Oka, Dededo, Sumay and Mangilao, and Super Happy Mart in Tamuning. Retailers have already removed the affected products from store shelves for disposal.
Consumers who purchased the impacted biscuits are advised not to feed them to children and to return the product to the store where it was bought for a refund. Officials said no local injuries or illnesses linked to the recalled products have been reported so far. Anyone concerned about a possible reaction or injury should contact a healthcare provider.
