The Guam Power Authority has restored 46% of the system load, energized 100% of substations and 58% of feeders and circuits as of 10 a.m. Thursday.
GPA’s peak demand is at 96 megawatts out of the targeted 255 megawatts.
“Of the 67 distribution feeders and circuits, 39 are now partially energized, and all 30 GPA substations remain energized. As additional feeders are restored, the percentage of customers with power is expected to continue increasing. The next power restoration update is expected Friday morning,” the Joint Information Center Recovery update No. 12 said.
GPA is currently in phase II of post-typhoon recovery, restoring power to “as many customers as possible with minimal damage” across the north, central and south.
“Customers and areas with more significant damage will be addressed in Phase III. During this phase of recovery, some feeders may be energized while isolated pockets of customers remain without power due to more extensive damage,” the JIC said.
According to JIC, GPA crews will return to restore service to those remaining customers after feeders without major faults have been restored.
Crews are restoring power to critical infrastructure across the island repairing distribution lines, supporting generators for water wells and wastewater services.
GPA customers can keep track of anticipated village restoration areas on a map available of GPA’s website and official Facebook page. According to JIC the map provides information covering one to three days of anticipated work areas.
