The Guam Police Department reported flooding in several areas across the island Monday morning as heavy rains continued under a flash flood warning.
At about 10:20 a.m., GPD spokesperson Norman Analista said officers were monitoring flooded roadways in Merizo, Humatac, Piti, Barrigada, Mongmong and Inalahan.
Affected areas include the Umatac Carnival Grounds; Route 4 by Quinene Road in Merizo; Inarajan Garden House; the southbound lane near the Veterans Cemetery in Piti; the Pulantat area and Polaris Point in Piti; Route 10 by Wendy’s in Barrigada; and Chamorro Gardens in Mongmong.
“Units are monitoring,” Analista said, advising motorists to seek alternative routes.
The flooding reports follow a flash flood warning issued earlier by the National Weather Service for Guam, with additional rainfall possible.
Police said more information will be provided as it becomes available.
