The Guam Police Department has identified the motorcycle operator involved in the fatal crash Yigo crash on July 11 as Rueben Frederick Rausch, 21.
Police have notified his next of kin, confirming that Rausch was an Air Force service member serving with the 36th Security Forces Squadron.
Rausch was traveling along Route 1 heading north by American Grocery in Yigo at around 2 a.m. colliding with a GPD patrol car. When Police initially addressed the crash, authorities said the GPD patrol car "motored" onto the outer north bound lane after "hearing of a disturbance call." Rausch was taveling on the same lane.
GPD noted the GPD police officer involved in the crash remains on administrative leave. On Saturday, police said parallel investigations into the crash are being conducted by GPD's Highway Patrol Division and Internal Affairs.
"GPD is committed to conducting a thorough and transparent investigation into the circumstances of the crash. We extend our sincerest condolences to Mr. Rausch’s family and friends," Police said on July 18.
