The Guam Police Department has identified the bicyclist killed in a Nov. 30 hit-and-run crash on Route 14 near Hornet Sports as John Carlos Daniel Yangco Haas. The case remains an open investigation, and GPD is urging the public to come forward with any information.
Police said anyone who witnessed the crash or knows someone who did should contact the Guam Highway Patrol Division through GPD Dispatch at 671-475-8615/7. No additional details are being released at this time.
In response to questions about roadway safety, GPD said the department is increasing its public awareness efforts following several recent crashes. The Guam Highway Patrol Division conducted a DWI Sobriety Checkpoint on Nov. 28 as part of ongoing efforts to deter impaired driving.
With holiday events and heavy shopping activity underway, GPD reminded motorists to stay alert, avoid distractions, and drive with patience. Officials urged the public to buckle up, plan for extra travel time, maintain safe distances, and use designated drivers when celebrating.
“We need to look out for each other so that everyone can arrive safely to their destinations,” the department said.
