An off-duty Guam Police Department officer was arrested following an altercation at a retail store in Tamuning, according to police.
Police identified the suspect as Aubrey Shaniece Benavente Pangelinan Sanchez, 31, of Mangilao.
Sanchez was arrested May 13 on charges of assault and official misconduct.
According to GPD, officers assigned to the Tumon-Tamuning Precinct responded to a disturbance at about 7:51 p.m. May 12 at a retail store in Tamuning.
Police said Sanchez became involved in a verbal altercation with two women and one man that later escalated into a physical confrontation. Responding officers separated the individuals at the scene.
Authorities said surveillance footage later showed Sanchez was the primary aggressor in the incident.
Police confirmed Sanchez is employed as a Police Officer I with GPD and was off duty at the time of the altercation.
Sanchez was booked and confined at the Department of Corrections. Her case has been forwarded to the Office of the Attorney General of Guam for review and possible prosecution.
