The NMI Supreme Court on Feb. 3 honored Associate Justice Perry B. Inos as he resigned from the bench after more than 17 years of service to the Commonwealth Judiciary.
Inos joined the NMI Judiciary as a Superior Court associate judge in September 2008 and became an associate justice of the Supreme Court in March 2013, serving through February 2026.
During his tenure, Inos contributed to major legal decisions and court administration. He served on the Judicial Council, chaired multiple Supreme Court Rules Committees and led the Judiciary’s Professional Development Committee.
He played a key role in developing the Interpreter and Translator Code of Conduct, which led to the Judiciary’s Language Access Policy and Plan, expanding access for limited English proficient individuals. Inos also helped draft Procurement Rules to improve accountability and supported the Commonwealth Recorder’s Act of 2020 and Rules of Electronic Recordation, helping modernize court operations.
Inos also served on the Pacific Judicial Council’s Education Committee, advancing judicial education across the region.
Justice John A. Manglona said Inos brought “a deep respect for our people” and helped improve language access and court operations. Chief Justice Alexandro C. Castro praised his leadership, collaboration and commitment to the rule of law.
