Guam Delegate James Moylan is closely tracking recent U.S. military movements in the Middle East, as the Department of Defense deploys additional forces to the region amid rising tensions.
According to information from federal briefings and public reports, the U.S. Department of Defense is sending thousands of troops, including elements of the 82nd Airborne Division, along with Marine units and naval assets, to bolster security and protect American personnel and interests.
Moylan acknowledged the broader impact such deployments have beyond the battlefield, particularly on families and communities in Guam and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
“As a former servicemember, the Congressman understands the weight of these deployments—not just on our troops, but on their families and communities back home,” his office said in a statement.
Officials noted that specific details about unit composition and personnel have not been publicly disclosed. For operational security reasons, the Department of Defense typically withholds the identities and hometowns of deployed service members during active operations.
Moylan’s office said it is actively working through military channels to determine whether any service members from Guam or the CNMI are among those deployed, including earlier Marine movements to the region.
“Regardless of where they are from, every American service member deployed represents the very best of our nation,” the statement said. “Guam and the CNMI have a proud legacy of service, and we know our island communities continue to answer the call at some of the highest rates in the country.”
The delegate's office added it will continue to provide updates to the community as more information becomes available, while prioritizing the safety and security of deployed personnel.
