The Guam Fire Department identified the 28-year-old missing swimmer as Nico Camacho, as his mother and family are asking for the community's help in the ongoing search.
Camacho was reported missing Sunday, Aug. 9, in the Gun Beach area. Since then, GFD, along with the U.S. Coast Guard, the Guam Police Department and Navy HSC-25, has conducted multiple tank dives, surface-water searches along the reef line and aerial drone operations concentrated on his last known location and extending north toward Tanguisson Beach.
"Additionally, GFD personnel are conducting shoreline searches extending from the search area north toward Two Lovers Point, expanding efforts along the surrounding coastline," GFD said at noon Tuesday.
GFD said search crews continue to be challenged by water conditions and limited underwater visibility.
Camacho's family and search crews ask boaters, fishermen, beachgoers and anyone along the surrounding coastline to be on the lookout.
"Anyone who observes anything that may assist with the search is asked to immediately contact 911," GFD said.
