A man was arrested Jan. 2 after Guam police responded to reports of a domestic disturbance involving a knife at an apartment complex in Maite, according to a sworn affidavit by an assistant attorney general.
Police said officers were called to the Robat Apartments about 4 p.m. for a report of a man shouting and brandishing a knife. Upon arrival, officers were directed to a second-floor unit, where a woman told police she and her husband, identified as KN Billy, had argued and that he had caused a disturbance downstairs.
According to police reports reviewed in the affidavit, the woman said Billy had been drinking since early morning and became angry during an argument in their bedroom. She alleged Billy attempted to strike her with a cell phone and later punched her twice in the shoulder area. Officers observed redness on her left shoulder, police said.
A second resident told officers he intervened to separate the couple and was threatened in Chuukese. He said Billy grabbed and damaged his cell phone when he attempted to call 911 and later pointed a knife at him, causing him to flee the apartment.
A third witness, told police he saw Billy holding a knife and pointing it at him and another resident, prompting them to run outside and hide.
A downstairs neighbor reported seeing Billy holding a kitchen knife and approaching a parked gray Toyota Corolla while pointing the knife at the driver. The neighbor said Billy attempted to open the vehicle’s driver-side door before the car drove away.
Billy was arrested at 5:17 p.m., the same day police said.
Prosecutors allege there is probable cause to charge Billy with attempted second-degree robbery, attempted theft of a motor vehicle with a special allegation involving a deadly weapon, two counts of terrorizing with a deadly weapon allegation, interfering with the reporting of family violence, criminal mischief, and multiple counts of family violence.
