A jury has found Stefan Keanu Camacho guilty in connection with the 2024 robbery and killing of a Korean tourist in Tumon, according to the Office of the Attorney General of Guam.
Camacho was convicted Tuesday following about 30 hours of jury deliberations in the Superior Court of Guam. Jurors returned guilty verdicts for complicity to commit robbery, a first-degree felony, as well as misdemeanor charges of theft of property and destruction of evidence.
The case stems from a fatal shooting that drew widespread concern after a visiting Korean tourist was killed while on island with his wife. Prosecutors said evidence showed Camacho and an accomplice targeted tourists after losing money gambling.
Authorities identified the shooter as Keoki Santos, who later died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. While jurors acquitted Camacho of accomplice to murder, they determined he played a role in the robbery that led to the victim’s death.
Attorney General Douglas Moylan said his office will seek the maximum sentence of 27 years in prison.
“This verdict will not bring back your loved one,” Moylan said in a statement addressing the victim’s family. “But the people of Guam have held the remaining defendant accountable.”
The trial was presided over by Judge John C. Terlaje. Sentencing is expected at a later date.
The case marks another prosecution tied to a high-profile crime involving visitors, raising continued concerns about public safety and tourism on the island.
