Thrive Media Group announced the appointment of Jolene Toves as the inaugural News Director of Guam News Network. The appointment coincides with the rebranding of Guam News to Guam News Network, as the organization expands from a fast-growing digital news platform into a full, independent newsroom, while continuing to deliver real-time local news from across the island.

“Jolene is one of the most respected journalists on Guam, and her decision to lead Guam News Network says everything about where we’re headed,” said David Macapinlac, Publisher of Guam News Network. “We earned our audience by being fast, accurate, and close to the community. With Jolene as News Director, we’re building the rest of what a newsroom requires — original reporting, clear editorial standards, and the independence that makes the news worth trusting.”

Toves has built her career in Guam media. Her experience includes roles as a Senior Reporter at The Guam Daily Post; Assistant News Director and Lead Anchor at the Pacific News Center; and Public Relations and Promotions Manager at Hotel Nikko Guam. She has also reported for KUAM News and Glimpses of Guam.

“I’ve spent my career in Guam’s newsrooms, in print, television, and radio, and I’ve watched how people’s news habits have changed,” said Toves. “Guam News Network is built for that shift: independent, digital-first, and focused on explaining the stories that shape daily life on Guam. I’m honored to lead it.”
