Within two hours of the Guam Department of Education opening seven emergency shelters at 6:00 p.m., hundreds of residents have already secured placement as Super Typhoon Sinlaku strengthens and approaches the island, according to the Joint Information Center.

Here is the shelter occupancy status as of 8:12 p.m. on April 12:

Northern Region:

- Astumbo Elementary School: 131 of 287

- Maria A. Ulloa Elementary School: 100 of 349

- Machananao Elementary School: 157 of 334

Central Region:

- George Washington High School: 41 of 683

Southern Region:

- Talo’fo’fo Elementary School: 12 of 311

- Merizo Martyrs Elementary School: 11 of 307

- Inalahan Middle School: 14 of 352

There are currently 466 island residents occupying emergency shelters across the island, according to the JIC.
