Guam will move to Condition of Readiness 2 at 5 p.m. Sunday as Typhoon Sinlaku strengthens and tracks toward the Marianas, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Rear Adm. Brett Mietus announced. All non-essential Government of Guam operations will close and remain shut until COR 4 is declared.
Governor Leon Guerrero has formally requested a pre-landfall Emergency Disaster Declaration from the President, describing an “imminent catastrophe” and calling for Department of Defense airlift, mass care, sheltering commodities and generators.
Storm Outlook
As of 7 a.m., Sinlaku was 520 miles east-southeast of Guam with maximum sustained winds of 110 mph. Despite a slight northward track shift, Guam could still experience Category 4 winds of 120 to 130 mph. Tropical Storm-Force winds are expected Monday evening, with Typhoon-Force winds possible Tuesday morning into early Wednesday.
Healthcare
GMHA will accept expectant mothers 36 weeks or more, and high-risk mothers 24 weeks or more, upon COR 2. Visiting hours and elective procedures are suspended.
Guam Regional Medical City is suspending clinic, lab and radiology services Monday through Wednesday. Visitation suspends Sunday at 9 p.m.
DPHSS Community Health Centers in the north and south will remain open for non-emergency care. Patients must bring medications, supplies, food and water for three to four days.
