Guam remains in Condition of Readiness, COR, 1. Despite Typhoon Sinlaku passing the island, Guam continues to experience heavy rain and damaging wind gusts that are expected to persist through the evening. Assessments will be conducted Thursday morning to determine if a transition to COR 4 is possible.
To ensure public safety and allow emergency responders to conduct essential assessments, all residents must remain indoors and off the roads until the “All Clear” is officially announced and the island transitions to COR 4.
Slow-Moving Sinlaku Extends Peak Conditions:
- Damaging Winds: Winds of 39 mph or more will continue well into the evening, posing a risk to safety, infrastructure, and power lines.
- Stay Indoors: You must remain indoors until COR 4 is declared.
- Wind Speeds: Expect sustained winds of 40 to 50 mph with gusts up to 60 mph, decreasing slightly late this evening.
- Coastal Hazards: Inundation of 2–3 feet is expected, particularly during high tide, leading to increased shoreline erosion and dangerous surf.
- Life-Threatening Seas: Stay out of the water. Life-threatening sea conditions are expected to last through the end of the week.
