Guam Regional Medical City says it remains fully operational despite a temporary medical oxygen shortage affecting the island, hospital officials announced Wednesday.
In a March 18 statement, GRMC said all core critical and emergency services continue without interruption as the facility implements precautionary measures to conserve oxygen supply.
Those measures include the temporary suspension of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which the hospital noted requires high oxygen usage.
Additional oxygen shipments are expected soon, and the hospital’s supplier is working to restore full production capacity to stabilize supply, according to GRMC. Hospital officials said they are closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with partners to maintain consistency.
GRMC emphasized there is no immediate risk to essential services and said patient care remains its top priority.
The hospital said it will continue conservation efforts while maintaining what it described as the highest standard of care for the community. Officials also expressed appreciation for public understanding as updates are provided.
