Guam Regional Medical City (GRMC) has responded to a lawsuit filed by a former employee, calling the allegations “baseless and untrue.” The hospital said the matter is now before the court and declined to discuss details but emphasized that two government agencies had already reviewed the claims and found no merit.
In a statement issued Tuesday, GRMC reaffirmed its commitment to patient safety and ethical standards. “We would never allow the behavior described in the complaint,” the hospital said. The announcement also noted that GRMC recently completed its fourth re-accreditation survey by The Joint Commission, the nation’s leading healthcare accrediting body, which found “overwhelmingly positive” results following a four-day comprehensive review.
GRMC has maintained continuous accreditation from The Joint Commission and certification by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services since 2015. Hospital officials said the positive reaccreditation findings reflect their ongoing focus on quality and safety across all departments, including the Pharmacy and Cancer Center.
“Our Cancer Center remains a source of deep pride for GRMC and an essential resource for our island community,” the statement continued. “We respect the legal process and remain confident that it will reflect the integrity and quality of our organization.”
