Guam Regional Medical City will bring gastroenterology experts directly to the community with a free public outreach event, “Your Gut, Our Focus: From Digestive Issues to Advanced Diagnostics,” on Saturday, Dec. 13, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Micronesia Mall Center Court.
The event is designed to educate residents about digestive health and the advanced diagnostic tools now available on Guam to detect and treat gastrointestinal conditions. Gastroenterology focuses on the digestive system, including the stomach, intestines, pancreas, liver and gallbladder. Organizers said many common symptoms such as chronic heartburn, abdominal pain, bloating and changes in bowel habits are often overlooked, even though early evaluation can prevent more serious conditions.
Featured speakers include GRMC gastroenterologist Dr. Supannee “Jill” Rassameehiran, Dr. Jason Baker of ANX Robotics, and Valent Soisuvarn of GI Digital. The experts will discuss how the GI system works, common digestive issues and advanced tools used for early detection, followed by a live question-and-answer session.
Attendees will also have access to free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, informational booths hosted by GRMC departments and community partners, educational resources, and raffle prizes. The grand prize is a 55-inch Hisense ultra high-definition smart TV.
“Digestive health is essential for maintaining overall wellbeing, yet many people wait until symptoms worsen before seeking help,” Rassameehiran said. “This outreach gives our community the tools to understand their GI health, recognize early warning signs, and explore treatment options that can greatly improve their daily comfort and long-term health.”
