The Guam Police Department released the identity of the victim in the fatal tractor-trailer-pedestrian crash July 22 as Charles Rachen, 57.
The statement issued Aug. 12 said Rachen's next of kin have been notified. According to police, the operator of the tractor-trailer was parked on the shoulder of West Soledad Avenue, adjacent to House of Chin Fe and 7th Street in Anigua.
"The operator of the truck then drove westbound and felt a bump toward the back tires, and upon exiting, noticed Rachen lying on his back," GPD said.
Though CPR was conducted, the Guam Fire Department said resuscitation efforts were ceased due to the extent of Rachen's injuries.
According to GPD, Dr. Martin Springer of Guam Memorial Hospital's emergency room pronounced Rachen deceased at 3:50 p.m. July 22.
GPD extended condolences to Rachen's family and friends.
