Governor Lou Leon Guerrero and Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio conducted their post Super Typhoon Bavi assessment determining that the island was spared major damage.
After a drive around the island, the governor and Lt. Governor made the decision to move Guam into Condition of Readiness 4 at 10 a.m. on July 7.
“Roads are passable. The Port is good, airport is good, the hospital is good, major buildings, no really downed lines,” Gov. Leon Guerrero said.
During the tour of the Guam Memorial Hospital, the governor in a video said, a quick assessment with the hospital administration showed that “everything seems to be stable, they are still running on generator power. We’ll get them up on island power soon. High census still, Emergency Room (ER) is okay. All through the night and during the day service was not interrupted,” the governor said.
She thanked the hospital staff for their services and continued care through the storm.
At the Port Authority, the governor standing along Route 11 shared that although coastal inundation was experienced, “our crews with the help of Black Construction did clear the roads. So, it’s passable.”
She said the Port would be up and running with no major concerns or damages noting that Coast Guard will need to make their assessment.
“We will be able to continue on with our goods, and services and trade and fuel … no worries in the area of fuel transport,” the governor said.
Lt. Gov Tenorio however stressed that “the waters are still dangerous. A lot of hazards out there. So, please be safe, be careful, look out for others and we’ll get through this together.”
