Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero placed Guam in Condition of Readiness (COR) 3 at 5 p.m. Friday as Tropical Storm Sinlaku strengthens toward the Marianas.
COR 3 means damaging winds of 39 mph or higher are possible within 48 hours.
Rear Adm. Brett Mietus, commander of Joint Region Marianas, earlier set TCCOR “Storm Watch” for military installations. The next level, TCCOR 3, would indicate sustained winds above 57 mph are possible within 48 hours.
The Joint Typhoon Warning Center forecasts Sinlaku could intensify into a Category 3 or 4 typhoon, with winds near 120 mph, passing close to Guam Monday night into Tuesday.

Typhoon-force winds (74+ mph) possible Monday night–Tuesday
10–15 inches of rain possible near the storm’s center
Prepare now:
Clear drains; secure loose outdoor items and construction sites
Stock 7–10 days of food, water, medications, and pet supplies
Protect important documents in waterproof containers
Review emergency plans, especially for elderly or disabled family members
