Governor Lou Leon Guerrero addressed the people of Guam providing an update on Tropical Storm Sinlaku.
According to the Governor, the National Weather Service Guam confirmed the system continues to strengthen as it moves toward the Marianas and could become a typhoon in the coming days.
Based on current projections, she reiterated that the island can expect damaging winds and heavy rainfall as early as Monday morning. Out of an abundance of caution, Guam is now in Condition of Readiness 3.
“I urge all residents to take this seriously—prepare your families, secure your homes, and review your emergency plans,” she said.
The Governor said the administration has mobilized critical infrastructure agencies to minimize impacts, including efforts to reduce flooding and potential power disruptions. Schools are also preparing to open as shelters “for those who may need a safe place.”
Updates will be provided as new information becomes available. She encourage everyone to rely on official sources like the Joint Information Center and the National Weather Service Guam for accurate, up-to-date information.
“Please stay alert, look out for one another, and take action now to keep your family safe. We will get through this together,” she said.
