Local business owners will be getting a call from the government of Guam as part of a Business Sector Damage Assessment Survey, Joint Information Center officials said Wednesday morning.
The announcement came in JIC Recovery Release No. 4, which said the survey will be conducted through Tuesday, July 14.
“It will assess damages sustained by business establishments as a result of Super Typhoon Bavi. Government of Guam personnel will conduct the damage assessment survey via telephone calls or in-person visits. All Government officials conducting this survey will have their government-issued ID,” the release said.
The Bureau of Statistics and Plans has created a link for businesses that prefer to answer the survey independently, at https://arcg.is/1rmHyD2. Responses are requested no later than 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 14.
The JIC also announced the Department of Youth Affairs has completed assessments of its facilities and the operational capabilities of its programs.
The Youth Correction Facility and Cottage Homes Facility are allowing visitation with advance notice. “Individuals wishing to visit residents should call (671) 735-5022 prior to traveling to the facility to confirm whether visitation will be permitted that day,” JIC said.
DYA summer camps at the Youth Resource Centers — Lagu, Kattan and Håya — remain closed until power and running water have been fully restored.
Students working under the Governor’s Summer Youth Employment Program may report to work beginning Wednesday, July 8, as long as their assigned worksite is safe and operational.
A high surf warning remains in effect for Guam, Saipan and Tinian until 4 p.m. as Super Typhoon Bavi exited the region overnight.
“Dangerous surf heights of 1 to 3 feet can be expected through at least this afternoon. Everyone should remain out of the water due to life-threatening surf conditions,” JIC officials said.
