Guam Memorial Hospital Authority recognized its pharmacists on National Pharmacist Day on Jan. 12, honoring their role in patient safety, medication management and the delivery of quality care across the hospital.
Pharmacists at GMHA work closely with physicians, nurses and support staff to ensure medications are administered safely and effectively, supporting patients from emergency treatment and critical care through recovery and discharge, the hospital said in a statement.
“Our pharmacists care for patients in ways that are often unseen but deeply felt,” said GMHA Interim Chief Executive Officer and Administrator Dr. Joleen M. Aguon. She said their responsibilities require constant focus and compassion, directly affecting patient well-being and the confidence of healthcare teams.
The recognition follows the recent announcement that Dr. Nam T. Vo, PharmD, a member of GMHA’s pharmacy team, was named Guam Pharmacist of the Year by the Guam Pharmacists Association.
Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero highlighted the importance of pharmacists within Guam’s healthcare system, saying their expertise strengthens healthcare delivery and protects patient safety. Lt. Gov. Josh Tenorio called pharmacists “key partners in patient care,” citing their attention to detail and dedication in supporting hospital teams.
GMHA extended appreciation to all pharmacists for their professionalism, dedication and service, calling them trusted healthcare professionals and essential partners in healing.
