The Guam Memorial Hospital Authority announced it will host a press conference Monday to update the public on its expanding collaboration with Keck Medicine of the University of Southern California.
The press conference will highlight progress made under a cooperative agreement established earlier this year to enhance Guam’s healthcare system through clinical training, workforce development, and telehealth partnerships. The update follows a recent Guam delegation visit to Keck Medicine in California to advance collaboration efforts.
Governor Lou Leon Guerrero, Lt. Governor Josh Tenorio and GMHA Interim Administrator and CEO Dr. Joleen M. Aguon are expected to speak at the event. In a statement, Aguon said the partnership is creating new educational and professional opportunities for healthcare workers on island. Leon Guerrero said the collaboration is part of broader efforts to modernize Guam’s healthcare system and support plans for a new hospital facility.
Tenorio noted that the initiative aims to reduce the need for residents to travel off-island for specialized care by expanding local services. The partnership will also support innovation in medical care and expand telemedicine options for patients.
