The Guam Memorial Hospital Authority is implementing storm preparedness measures ahead of Typhoon Sinlaku, including temporary service suspensions and a patient intake protocol for expectant mothers, the hospital announced Saturday.
Expectant Mother Intake
Upon declaration of Condition of Readiness 2, GMHA will accept pregnant mothers who are 36 weeks or more, and high-risk pregnant mothers who are 24 weeks or more. Expectant mothers should report to the Patient Registration office on the first floor upon arrival and will remain at the facility through the duration of the storm until COR 4 is declared.
Mothers are advised to bring identification, insurance cards, medications, bedding, toiletries, water and non-perishable snacks. No escorts, support persons, children or pets — except service animals — will be permitted.
Hospital Operations
Under COR 2, visiting hours will be suspended, elective outpatient and clinical procedures postponed, and family viewings halted until COR 4. Patients with affected appointments will be contacted directly for rescheduling. Emergency Room operations and inpatient care will continue around the clock.
Facility Readiness
GMHA said emergency power generation fuel and liquid oxygen supplies have been filled to capacity to ensure uninterrupted operations throughout the storm.
