The Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA) will hold a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday for its Roof and Envelope Restoration Initiative, a major infrastructure project aimed at strengthening the hospital’s safety and resilience.
The project will reinforce the hospital’s roof and exterior structure from the first through fourth floors, including typhoon shutter replacements, wall repairs, and other critical structural upgrades. The improvements are designed to harden the facility against future storms and enhance safety for both patients and staff.
The groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the hospital’s front rotunda area. The initiative is part of GMHA’s broader capital improvement program, which focuses on modernizing Guam’s only public hospital and ensuring it remains operational during severe weather events.
GMHA officials said project updates will be shared on the hospital’s Facebook and Instagram pages (@gmha_guam) as work progresses.
