The Guam Memorial Hospital Authority recognized its nurse practitioners and perioperative team Tuesday as part of two national November observances: Nurse Practitioners Week and Perioperative Team Week. Interim CEO Dr. Joleen M. Aguon said the celebrations highlight professionals whose compassion and expertise drive the hospital’s mission of delivering safe and patient-centered care.
GMHA noted several perioperative achievements this year, including multiple team members earning the Certified Perioperative Nurse credential. The department also added four new Dräger anesthesia machines in October, replacing older units and offering improved ventilation control, anesthetic delivery, and real-time vital-sign monitoring to enhance patient safety.
Nurse practitioners across the hospital were also honored for their critical role in diagnosing, treating, educating, and supporting patients. Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero praised their service, saying their dedication brings “hope to families across our island.” Lt. Gov. Josh Tenorio added that their expertise strengthens care for the community.
