The Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA) has resumed elective surgeries following improvements in its oxygen supply after last week’s islandwide disruption.
Hospital officials confirmed an initial delivery of 700 gallons of liquid oxygen, providing relief as operations continue under close monitoring. An additional shipment is expected later this week.
With supply levels stabilizing, procedures that were previously postponed as a precaution have now resumed, signaling a step toward normal operations.
“We are grateful for the progress made and for the continued coordination with our supply partners,” said Dr. Joleen M. Aguon, GMHA’s interim CEO and administrator. “While we remain vigilant, we are encouraged by the steps forward and are committed to keeping our community informed.”
GMHA emphasized that it will continue to monitor oxygen levels and hospital operations to ensure patient safety and uninterrupted care.
The update comes after concerns over limited oxygen supply prompted temporary adjustments to services across the island’s main public hospital.
