The Guam Memorial Hospital Authority (GMHA) Laboratory has once again earned accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP), affirming its adherence to international standards in medical laboratory practice. The latest recognition follows a detailed on-site inspection of quality control procedures, staff qualifications, equipment, and safety programs.
GMHA has maintained continuous CAP accreditation since 1999, a record hospital officials say reflects their commitment to quality-driven and safe healthcare. “We are incredibly proud of our Laboratory team for their dedication and excellence,” said Belle Rada, GMHA’s assistant administrator of professional support. Hospital Administrator and CEO Lillian Perez-Posadas added the award underscores GMHA’s promise to uphold the highest standards for patients and the community.
The CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program is considered a global benchmark for accuracy in medical testing and carries “deeming authority” from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. That designation means CAP’s standards are equal to or more stringent than the federal government’s inspection program.
Officials said the renewed accreditation ensures the hospital continues to provide reliable diagnostic services critical to patient care, while affirming GMHA’s standing as a leading healthcare provider on Guam.
