The Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority (GHURA) has announced the early launch of its “Fix in Six” program, an initiative funded by the Community Development Block Grant–Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR). Originally scheduled for January 2026, the program has been accelerated to begin this month, signaling a key milestone in Guam’s recovery from Typhoon Mawar.
GHURA will begin community outreach sessions in September to help residents understand eligibility requirements and prepare for the application process. Events are scheduled for Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to noon and Sept. 30 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., both at the Guam Museum Theater. Outreach will continue through December with weekday, evening, and weekend sessions to encourage broad participation.
“Our community has endured tremendous challenges over the last five years. COVID-19 crippled our economy and Typhoon Mawar further devastated our infrastructure and homes,” said GHURA Deputy Director Fernando Esteves. “The programs under Fix in Six are long-term solutions that will help our community rebuild stronger than ever before, enhancing resilience, safety and quality of life for all Guam residents.”
GHURA is managing $500.8 million in CDBG-DR funds designated in January 2025 to assist low-to-moderate-income households. Over the next six years, Fix in Six will provide support through affordable housing projects, public infrastructure improvements, economic opportunities, and mitigation efforts.
