A George Washington High School aide was arrested Tuesday on charges including assault, child abuse, abuse of the incompetent and official misconduct, according to the Guam Police Department.
Police said the arrest of Michael Hocog II followed an Aug. 8 incident in which a special education student was allegedly roughly handled by Hocog, who served as the student’s one-to-one aide. A Student Resource Officer met with the school principal after the student’s mother provided photos of her son’s injuries and filed a formal complaint.
Witnesses reported that Hocog and the student were involved in an altercation in which Hocog restrained the student and made verbal threats. The student was taken to the school nurse’s office for evaluation, police said.
Hocog was contacted Aug. 12 and asked to report to GPD Headquarters in Tiyan, where he was charged. He was booked and released, and the case has been forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office for review.
