The Guam Community College has canceled its annual Christmas in July Bazaar as the island continues to recover from Super Typhoon Bavi.
The event was initially postponed to July 18 to allow vendors and the community time to recover and participate, but will not take place, with the college citing ongoing “utility restoration and infrastructure repairs” across Guam.
“Our priority is the well-being of our community and the local businesses that have supported this event,” GCC President Judith Guthertz said. “Many of our vendors are still focused on restoring their businesses and caring for their families. We believe this decision allows them to continue those efforts without the added responsibility of preparing for a public event.”
Vendors who registered for the July 18 bazaar will receive a full refund of all registration fees or may transfer their registration and secure a vendor space for GCC’s Holiday Bazaar on Friday, Nov. 27, at no additional cost.
GCC said it has contacted registered vendors, who have until July 17 to notify the college of their preferred option.
